今日の和菓子: 青龍

古来から東山の護り神として信じられてきた「青龍」。
80年以上にわたり、学び舎として地域に愛されてきた東山の清水小学校が、その「青龍」を冠したホテルに生まれ変わった。
長い年月をかけて蓄積されてきた建物の文化や歴史と人々の記憶。それを丁寧に汲み取って再構築し、未来につないでいく。
そうやってゆっくりと、でも着実に新しい歴史がこの場所に刻まれていくのだと思う。

秘密にしておきたい、とっておきの隠れ家。
いつか京都にお越しの際は是非。

Today’s Wagash :  Blue Dragon 

The blue dragon(Seiryu) is one of the four guardian spirits of Japanese cities and is said to be the protector of the eastern city of Kyoto. The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu used to be the Kyoto Kiyomizu Elementary School which opened in 1869. This school was loved by the local community for many years but it is now reborn as an iconic hotel. Here is a hideaway in Kyoto and definitely one of the best hotels in Japan.
This confectionery visualizes the blue dragon inspired by the name of this hotel.
I hope we can get back to our normal lives so that everyone can enjoy their trip to Kyoto.
