Video by @PaulNicklen // The island of Steeple Jason is home to the largest black-browed albatross colony in the world. With over 200,000 pairs of albatross, it is an awe-inspiring sight. The island booms with chatter from the thousands of birds carrying out their daily activities. Isolated and protected from reoccurring human activity, this area surges with natural energy. Though things can get a little crowded, that doesn’t stop albatross mothers like this one from caring for their new chicks. The mud nest, constructed by the albatross, is reused every year and the female will lay a single egg in the fall. Innocent and curious, the chick will remain with its mother until it develops wing feathers that are strong and large enough for flight.
