It’s my opinion that this silent agreement comes from the messaging we receive from society that what we achieve is more important than the person we are and how we live. That our sense of status is more important than our own joy. The reality is that this future person doesn’t exist and this silent agreement is preventing us from being the best versions of ourselves right now.

In the coaching space, I have found that when we expose this silent agreement, breaking the spell requires that the coachee choose joy for themselves. Of course that’s easier said than done but in some ways it really is that simple.
