I managed to free the climb, but even if I hadn’t, it would have still been one of the best experiences of my life and firmly cemented my love of big wall free climbing. The biggest cost to fear of failure is largely unseen. It’s hard to measure all the times you didn’t even start. And I wonder how many things I almost did over the course of my career but didn’t due to fear. What about you? Can you reflect on the unseen cost of your fear of failure?
