Have you ever felt super sore a couple days AFTER your workout? This could be DOMS. What are DOMS really? First of all DOMS stands for delayed onset muscle soreness.
Some may think the soreness they feel 24-48 hours after a workout is because you made micro tears in the muscle. Now, this can be the case but most likely not. If you were to tear your muscle you would feel the pain immediately AND there really aren’t that many pain receptors in your muscles as it is. What’s most likely happening is you worked the muscle and fluid starts building in them. The PRESSURE receptors around the muscle now tell your brain something is going on. So the soreness is actually a neurological response. Not actual tears in your muscle.
