The exhibition that showcases Sekisai’s cutting edge 3D printing technique is ending in four days. In many crafts, the post-processing steps such as colouring and surface treatment are cumbersome , and less and less people are carrying out those steps. “At Sekisai, we regard the 3D printer as a tool for colouring." says Mr Shin Obinata, the founder. It usually takes two process to make an object “shaping⇄ colouring” , Sekisai is unique in its ability to integrate these two separate process in one. They are a design collective that seek to realise more subtle and complex colour expression. 　The exhibition displays many of their latest experimentations. It is a six-day-only exhibition and two days have passed since the opening, you will only have until its ending on Thursday 30 June. I also have made a video of the exhibition but it is in Japanese. https://youtu.be/8Pt_2fAY0iU 「多くの工芸品などでは、仕上げた後、着色や表面の処理などの後処理の工程が大変で、その担い手が減っている。積彩ではそうでなく3Dプリンターを着彩のためのツールとして捉え直すことを目指した。」そう語るのは積彩代表の大日向伸さん。積彩は「形をつくる⇄色をつける」の二つの工程をシームレスに結びつけ、より繊細で複雑な色彩表現づくりを実現。この新しい色の作り方を見つめ、実験し、まだ誰も見たこともないような視覚表現を研究するコレクティブだという。　展覧会では、代表の大日向氏が大学生時代から積み重ねてきたこの新表現の最新の成果が多数展示されている（展示作品のほとんどはこの１〜２年で作られたものだ）。　立体のプリーツ構造を使って見る角度によって色が変わる作品から、花瓶や皿といったアイテムへの落とし込み。光沢のある素材、オブジェそのものを動かして受動的に楽しめる作品にするといった試みや、レンチキュラー構造とCG映像の掛け合わせ表現など、いくつものを新しいチャレンジに取り組んでいることに驚かされる。たった６日間だけの展覧会は６月30日の木曜日まで。この投稿に気がついて気になった人は、すぐにでも見に行かないと、これだけの作品を一堂に見ることはしばらく叶わなくなりそうです。この機会に是非！なお、初日に行われた内覧会のビデオをYouTubeにアップしたので、ぜひそちらも参考に！ https://youtu.be/8Pt_2fAY0iU #sekisai #積彩 #YUGENgallery #ONBEAT」6月27日 10時59分
