Photos by @carltonward On assignment for @insidenatgeo making a Last Wild Places film about the importance of protecting the Florida Wildlife Corridor. We experienced some magical light as we followed clam farmers through their daily work in the nearshore Gulf of Mexico around Cedar Key, where the water quality of the estuary depends on conserving the wild and timber lands upstream on the Suwannee River. The first two photos show sister and brother Gretchen and Ian Stone (@gretchstone) on their morning commute to their clam lease before and during sunrise. The last photo, a drone shot, shows the oyster bars and barrier islands that structure the estuary around Cedar Key. The film our team captured during these late summer days is going to be powerful. Please follow @carltonward @pathofthepanther and @fl_wildcorridor as the story unfolds. #LastWildPlaces #KeepFLWild
