The rich aesthetic tradition of Indigenous cultures echoes throughout Abad´s work, inspired by her travels and interactions with various cultural traditions across Asia, Africa and Latin America. Her work integrates traditional art forms with figurative and abstract elements through a visual language that speaks stories of migration and cross-cultural experiences. European Mask is a wonderful example of this, created through a process that she referred to as trapuntos; it was made by stitching forms onto a large canvas, stuffing it with shells, buttons, mirrors and other objects collected on her travels.
