While there were larger bulls in the area, this young bull elk caught my attention as he was covered in wet mud from head to hoof. Bull elk will wallow in wet muddy areas to essentially turn themselves into a walking advertisement for a female mate. In fact, they will also soak themselves in their urine as the scent seems to warrant quite a lot of female attention.
