Kitty takes center-stage in this group pic, a tintype photo from our Photo History Collection. It’s one of 3,000 we have dating from the beginning of the tinype process in 1856. Printed on a sheet of metal, durable tintypes meant photos of you, your BFFs, and your favorite cat were durable souvenirs. Often studio shots, they were popular with Civil War soldiers, who sent them home to loved ones. ??? Just like these ladies, we think the best way to hang out with friends is to curl our bangs, button up our dresses to our necks, and chill with a handsome cat like this one. Today we’re joining @eastmanmuseum and a few other museums for a friendly cat fight. Take a paws around noon EST to cat around with us using the tag #Catsgiving on Twitter.
