How do you give? Who or what does it benefit? With these March of Dimes collection tins and envelopes, the objects themselves answer those questions.

This week we’ll be exploring stories of philanthropic giving. Some of the stories are written on the object, like these March of Dimes tins, while some require a little sleuthing to uncover.

Founded in 1938, March of Dimes was originally called the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, dedicated to combatting polio. It later shifted its mission to preventing birth defects. Tins and envelopes like these were used to collect donations.
