Today, First Lady Melania Trump visited to our @国立アメリカ歴史博物館 formally present her 2017 inaugural ball gown to the collection. It was designed by Hervé Pierre in collaboration with Melania Trump, and is now on display in the "First Ladies" exhibition.
She joins a long tradition of first ladies who've donated their inaugural gowns.
Helen Taft was the first to donate her own inauguration dress to the exhibition, in 1912, and her choice set a precedent for future first ladies.
The “First Ladies” exhibition has evolved over the years, integrating beloved elements like the dresses into a discussion on the changing roles of women and first ladies in America.
