A Galapagos cormoran dives in serch of its fish prey. With no natural predators and with abundant fish on the nearshore, this species eventually lost the ability to fly - it did not need it to make a living. The waters in the Galapagos now contain a 40,000 square kilometer marine sanctuary that protectes all marine species from fishing and other human activities.
