Life is so 'back to normal' that sometimes I forgot I'm still relatively early in my recovery. She's been out in the world for less time than my body carried her.   So I guess it's no surprise that I've struggled with body image this holiday. It was a surprise as I have a positive relationship with my body these days in that I respect and appreciate it, and place less emphasis on the way it looks.   But when taking photos and videos, especially the unposed ones where I'm playing with the kids, I didn't recognise my body. It doesn't look like mine. I've felt negative self talk creep in. I should add that (postpartum) body image is so personal. It's not about how others perceive you, but how you feel. For me it's the big b00bs I find hardest to navigate.   I thought I'd share some of the things that help me navigate poor body image days: ✨Your body image is not your body. It's your subjective judgement influenced by your self esteem and other external factors. It's why you can look back at old photos and think how great you looked even when you don't appreciate it at the time.   ✨It's ok to have a Postnatal body. The same body that was praised for being pregnant, deserves the same praise. So much of recovery takes time - more time than society would have you believe. With Alf it took a year just for my bones to move back.   ✨It's ok to be bigger. We don't need to be the smallest version of ourselves to be confident or sexy. We just need to look around to see beautiful women in all shapes and sizes. ✨ Good for you and same for me. Try not to compare your body and postpartum recovery to anyone else's.   Finally, I tell myself it's hard to hate a body that created my two perfect little cherubs! 🙏❤️🫶」11月23日 4時56分 - ashleylouisejames

Let's talk postpartum body image. ❤️

I'm 8 months pp and this is my second postpartum journey.

I thought I'd share some of the things that help me navigate poor body image days:

✨Your body image is not your body.

✨ Good for you and same for me. Try not to compare your body and postpartum recovery to anyone else's.

Finally, I tell myself it's hard to hate a body that created my two perfect little cherubs! 🙏❤️🫶
