It was the island's longest known eruption, lasting from September to December 2021. Here, speleologist Octavio Fernandez Lorenzo, in collaboration with the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain, is getting a first look at a small cave full of ephemeral stalagmites, located on the slopes of the La Palma’s Cumbre Vieja 2021 eruption. @natgeoesp
