Photos by Keith Ladzinski @Keith Ladzinski / Rock climbing in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison is notoriously adventurous and committing. It’s a sea of rock among steep cliffs, ambiguous to find your route and easy to loose your way. Once you drop in, up is the way out, unless you opt for the full rappel to the bottom of the gorge where river crossings, poison ivy and a steep trail out, if you can find it, is your only exit alternative. While working on this story I was in the best of hands with @mgclimber1 - aka Marcus Garcia, seen here climbing up the steep cliffs. He knows this maze riddled zone well and is a legend in the area, having climbed here over the last 20 years. He’s always excited to drop into the canyon for some vertical fun.
