To help combat the bitterly cold and wet winter seen by the UK and much of Europe this year, the spring 2017 edition of Tate Etc. featured a photograph of a grinning David Hockney painting a swimming pool in sun-drenched Los Angeles in 1987. If readers’ comments are anything to go by, then Hockney is certainly still making a splash.
