Photograph taken by @christianziegler These are red-eyed tree frog embryos - just 4-days old - they sit outside the water, glued to vegetation overhanging a pond. Unlike other tadpoles, they are ready to emerge immediately when danger is coming, often in form of a snake or a wasp. The premature tadpoles drop into the water to escape and have a chance to live.
