Photograph by @Thomas Peschak Some 30 years ago the number of magpie robins plummented to just 14 individuals before measures were implemented to restore the species. The last remaining birds were brought to the island of Frégate where the population has since recovered from near extinction through conservation efforts such as the planting of indigenous trees.
