Photo by @paleyphoto (Matthieu Paley). Back from the bush! My second stay with the Hadza of Tanzania was intense, much like the first one. On my first day, I joined a group of hunters, leaving at dawn; they are looking for much needed protein. Most of the time, they come home with nothing. But on that day, they manage to hunt a velvet #monkey, here falling from a tree, hit by an #arrow. It is harsh to see this, but please understand that the #Hadza gather food and hunt animals to feed themselves; they have been living that way for thousands and thousands of years, and so far it has been sustainable. They do not grow anything, nor do they herd animals, they are 100% hunter-gatherers. I came back thanks to a Natural History Museum grant.
