Today in 1804: Manufacturer John Deere is born. Working as a blacksmith in Grand Detour, Illinois, Deere created tools to help pioneer farmers plow the thick, sticky soil of the Midwest. This is one of his 1838 steel plows, made to cut tough grass roots. ?? #JohnDeere #Vermont #Farming
