Outside of my window, New York City was experiencing epicenter of Hell. I had strong desire to document this historic time we were in. But I didn’t know how. I felt powerless. So I picked up Blue watercolor and started to draw just a line again - my third Unbroken Line. I decided to observe my waves of loneliness, anxiety and all kinds of sad emotions while doing my best to create safe environment for myself and my blind dog Rudy. Rudy is my Yoda who always teaches me how to be in the moment at his best way inside of his foggy cocoon. With endless self-examination in the dark tunnel towards unknown, I treasured my practice of devotion just to be the present. Much to my surprise, at some point, I found myself feeling nothing but gratitude despite the midst of the chaos. I’m in my sanctuary, being able to create, Rudy is right next to me, I couldn’t appreciate enough to where I am and what I have. While thousands of people were dying every day, I wanted to preserve our miraculous thin line of existence because I must remember it will disappear too. My practice of “just being” is not necessary to follow religious practice such as Zen.
