I moved back to Tokyo because I wanted to feel the same energy I used to feel in the young US scene built around SoundCloud in the early 2010’s that Japan has never seen. I have been spending the whole 2019 communicating with the emerging Japanese independent music scene strangleheld by the old CD driven music industry for a decade and now that COVID-19 crashed the economy and industry, it’s time to act and build what we really need in the next few decades.
