I feel a bit weird to share my other project @popskenn on starRo account but I’m writing this as Shinya. I have been mentally in the dark place for years as some of you know. I was exhausted by chasing after the void called the success. I realized how this fool act impacted not only my musical motivation but also my life in all aspects. I hurt so many people, lost so many relationships and most of all hurt myself so bad. When I finally surrendered and not giving a fuck about how my music influences externaly, I was moved to make something just for myself. I wrote lyrics from my real life experience like writing a diary in my mother language and sang (which I have never done before) on the track that I put together from the inspiration from within. And I named this process “POPS Kenkyukai” which means “Pops Research Lab”.
It may sound contradicting from the spirit of making this, but to me making pop music is about sharing my personal feeling and connect with people who get in tune with it. Just like sharing your story on Instagram. I am just interesting in knowing if I am still somehow connected to the world out there, not in the lenses of quantifiable success but rather spiritually. If this music could make people sympathizing and realizing how we are connected in this universe, I think that make this music a pop music. But even if it doesn’t it is still my personal pop music. Thank you for your continuing support on both @starRo and @popskenn project.
