Figure skater Adam Rippon wore this costume at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Games, where he made history by becoming the first openly gay athlete to win a medal in the Winter Olympics. (Rippon made history when he won a bronze medal in the team competition, this costume was worn during the men’s free skate.) Rippon started skating when he was 10 years old. He attributes coming out in his early twenties as a catalyst for helping him succeed as an elite athlete and is a strong advocate for LGBTQ rights.

mia_too I am visiting the museum this weekend with my son. I have visited once before and LOVED it. It will be his first time and he is a Secondary Ed teacher History major. We are so excited!
