They have ears that are able to pick up sounds both above and below water - and their incredible whiskers can feel where the fish and other creatures are in the water. One of their primary senses is touch making them one of the most inquisitive ocean mammals we could ever have the privilege to interact with.
Using their superb senses, intelligence and streamlined body allows them to move through water at incredible speed. An important part of a sea lions day is “play” - especially for young pups learning to hunt. Their playtime around the sheltered nursery keeps them fit, alert and healthy for when it comes time to head out to the open ocean to hunt and escape predators.
