There are more than 8,000 living specimens in @smithsoniangardens' orchid collection, and now you can see them all in incredible detail online.
Our @sixdigi team recently digitized the collection—one of the most important in the world—so scholars and orchid enthusiasts can explore from anywhere.
How do you digitize an orchid? The team takes photos of each plant from multiple angles using very high-resolution (80 megapixel) digital cameras, then integrates those images into an online record with more information.
