A collaboration with @amivitale. Wild elephants drink water at the #Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy, home to Africa’s second largest population of elephants and according to the latest census, that population has grown by 12% since 2012 while poaching has fallen.
Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy is home to Reteti Elephant Sanctuary (@r.e.s.c.u.e), the first ever community-owned and run elephant sanctuary in Africa. The sanctuary provides a safe place for injured elephants to heal and later, be returned back to the wild. Reteti operates in partnership with Conservation International (@conservationorg) who provide critical operational support and work to scale the Reteti community-centered model to create lasting impacts worldwide
