Climate change has transformed the Arctic, and will continue to do so at an ever-increasing pace. Meanwhile, Arctic tourism and business is booming as frozen oceans melt into safe waterways for massive, polluting cruise and cargo ships. How do you balance the desire to explore the increasingly accessible Arctic without further damaging such a vulnerable ecosystem? Last summer in Norway I was able to see one solution first hand. Sailing is one of the most sustainable ways to explore the fragile seas of the North, and more and more regular people are starting to choose to see incredible, wild places like the Svalbard archipelago in a way that leaves a lighter footprint.
