Image by @Joel Sartore | Famous for waking up late and making a lot of noise, howler monkeys truly live up to their names. When they break into song, their howls can be heard up to three miles away. This incredibly loud, specialized call is delivered as a sign to other monkeys that this territory is taken. Howlers are the largest of all new world monkeys and use their long tails as a fifth arm to grasp onto branches in order to maneuver through their arboreal homes.
