The silver lining is that this balance of life and death at the end of the world has been going for tens of thousands of years. Penguin populations have evolved to produce numbers that will allow predators like leopard seals to thrive. The one thing that neither leopard seals or penguins have evolved to handle is a rapidly changing climate.
