Dirt to dirt. Tonight, sitting around the fire after another successful harvest, Mauli mentioned to me in passing: "I am a statute made of clay." ~

He was speaking in reference to our obvious admiration for his skill, his bravery, his magical gift. Mauli is, of course, growing older. Tomorrow is likely his very last harvest. He is in the limelight now, but this too - like all that we know - will soon pass. All of it - our truest, most pure nature, alongside our most base vanities - are made of earth. ~

Today went without a hitch. The long monsoon has forced the bees to eat their reserves of honey, and our harvest was only the sweet smelling wax. ~

After all this, I have no idea how to thank Maule, and everyone involved in this project enough. ~
