With a heart the size of a small car pulling it through its liquid universe, a blue whale pulls it's fluke out of the water as it descends into the deep. Blue whales are the largest animals to ever inhabit our planet, with some growing over 100 feet in length and weighing around 220 tons. There may have been nearly a million blue whales a couple centuries ago, but due to over whaling, fewer than 15,000 remain. Seeing them is extremely rare, but right now a group of about 20 are feeding together in Monterey Bay.
