One of the more precarious photo shoots I have ever attempted, had me climbing up slick sandstone covered in ice to get this view. This is the famous North Window Arch in Arches National Park, and through it, you can see the oddly shaped Turret Arch. The scale may be hard to tell through this photo, but the large arch gap is over 90 feet wide and has a height of nearly 50 feet. These enormous rock formations are the result of thousands of years of erosion as sandstone fins form and water slowly erodes the holes in the rock that become arches today. So the arches you see today might not be here in 10,000 years, but new ones might take their place as the process continues to shape the park! #arch #moab #nationalpark #southwest #sunrise #winter #desert #nature
