When I got a phone call that there had been a rare snowfall on the Great Wall, I was waist deep in field of yellow flowers in the southern province Yunnan. So we hastily packed and drove for hours to the airport, catching the last flight to Beijing and arriving well past midnight. I changed out of my tropical clothes in the back of the taxi, and then broke trail up the icy stone steps in by moonlight to catch this view of the wall at sunrise. Much of photography is about being in the right place at the right time, and in this case, bringing a good pair of boots! For more lucky shots from here and there, go to @geosteinmetz
