A guard in Kaziranga National Park in Assam, India who has not been home to see his wife and family for a month has another guard touch up the grey in his hair - "so I look younger to my wife "- he told me.

These guards are involved in dangerous lonely work for months at a time - going up against rhino poachers and the rhino’s themselves. Rhinos in Kazi have become very territorial in some non-tourist areas are charge and attack the guards. Kaziranga has done a great job protecting the Indian One Horned rhino which is under threat by poachers for the Asian traditional medicine market. Kazi is close to Myanmar which is a trade route to China and Vietnam.

Rhino horn has been shown to have no medicinal value at all - is made of keratin the same substance that our fingernails and hair is made of - so chew your fingernails and save the rhino!
Rhino horn is also now given as gifts as it has such high economic value - it is worth more than it’s weight in gold.

Last year 1215 rhinos were killed in South Africa alone.
