I just returned last night from my two weeks up in Alaska. It was an amazing experience spent alongside coastal brown bears, grey wolves, and whales and the best part of the whole trip, was that we were alone. No other group was in the bay we went to, which made the adventure that much more special. I had encounters from curious bears approaching within 5 feet, wolves running across my path, and winds hollowing up to 100 mph at night. I plan on positing quite a few pictures from my time spent along the desolate coast of Katmai National Park and Preserve along with many stories as well! Pictured here, a mother brown bear plays with her yearling cub in an intense match of bear wrestling. They must have wrestled for up to 2 hours in the mud and creeks, while mom showed the cub a few new moves that he'll use when he's off on his own. These coastal brown bears, a.k.a Kodiak bears, are the largest subspecies in the world reaching up to 1,400 pounds. Thank goodness they were more interested in salmon for their meals and not humans!
