photo by @Joel Sartore | Meet Sirocco the Kakapo, one of only 125 mysterious, flightless night parrots from the wilds of New Zealand. Sirocco leads a remarkable double life. Most of the time he lives in the wild, but for a few weeks each year, he is brought to a wildlife preserve or a zoo where he meets thousands of people, acting as an ambassador for his species. Imprinted on humans when he was a baby, he loves meeting people & at the same time is helping to bring awareness to the global issues of habitat loss and species decline.
