An 11 week old fox kit brushes up alongside his mother in a sign of affection and dependency. Even those these kits are almost entirely weened, they are still relying on their mother to feed them. With 6 growing mouths to feed, she has to hunt endlessly from dawn till dusk as she wipes the meadows clean of voles and ground squirrels. At one point when she came back with a vole, one of the kits grabbed it and ran around the grass with the the other 5 kits chasing him in hot pursuit. Watching all these newborns never gets old. I've been actively trying to photograph the newly born moose calves, but the mothers and them are so skittish it's been impossible to get a shot off!
