A moment at a Himba gathering in Omuhonga, Namibia Photo by @salvarezphoto (Stephen Alvarez)I went to Northern Namibia to photograph the Himba use of red ochre paint for my story on the origins of art. The assumption is that modern day Himba women use ochre paint in much the same way that paleolithic people did. Along the way I came to realize something else. Semi Nomadic people carry their art with them and a properly made up Himba woman is a work of art.
