Thanksgiving Day here in the United States seems like a good day to thank Frank Reese for keeping his lines of heritage turkeys alive at his Good Shepherd Poultry Ranch in central Kansas. These birds are much closer to the turkeys of our earlier Thanksgiving celebrations. Frank is one of the farmers I photographed around the world for our stories on feeding the planet. I'm thankful for them all. Frank is also a crack anesthesiologist, a fact I can attest to from personal experiences, and which I will remember as I nod off for a long nap this afternoon. Thanks, also, to our many friends around the world who indulge our excesses on this American holiday. We're thankful for you, too.
