25 years ago a community came together at the confluence of the rivers Ashepoo, Combahee, and Edisto; The ACE Basin.

The conservationists at the heart of this effort were hunters.

Forming an unlikely alliance of private landowners, government agencies, public groups and land trusts, they have successfully protected over 200,000 acres from development in this historic and fragile place just 30 miles from Charleston, South Carolina. They are committed to preserving traditional uses of the land with strategic management of habitat and resources. Because of their work, this world class ecosystem is one the largest undeveloped estuaries remaining on the east coast.
