Cover story of the German National Geographic "Wild Christmas" by @CarstenPeter: In the #Alps Santa Claus has grim counterparts and is accompanied by #devil like "Krampusses". They can be frightening and aggressive. Especially in the nights between the moon year and sun year the so called "#Rauhnaechte" you have to be aware of these #demons. Separated through mountain ridges a huge variety of local #customs survived until today.
