A recently rebuilt & restored a Merckle SM 67, an experimental aircraft made in German in the 1950s with the first turbine engine. A friend of mine & his dad brought this beauty back to life. Needing some flight hours, he asked me & @heidarlogi to hop in for a flight and explore the highlands in his historical aircraft and we couldn’t say no. A stroke of brilliance came to mind and we decided to toss in the fly rods and try our luck for some arctic char along the way. It’s easy to take for granted this unbelievably lush countryside with so many hidden gems and incredible fishing spots, Iceland continues to surprise me with all of its little nuances & gifts that I keep discovering with good friends who have grown up here and know the place well. Nothing like the smell of the moss in the wind and a fish dancing on the other end of your line.
