Reevaluating what’s important to me, I had to put community, family, health, and roots first, which meant staying still. Building a community is hard when I’m always moving. Cultivating family and roots isn’t easy either. My health was taking its toll on the road and I needed this steadiness to uncover some underlying issues. I’ve been here for three weeks and already am resisting the urge to flee, but finding so much solace in the ocean, the land, and the people on this unceded Coast Salish Squamish territory. Most of all, the dogs love our daily beach visits, and romping around the woods.
