“I always tell my son, I don’t care if you are first in your class, I want you to be humble and sweet and a beautiful soul, and to understand the basics of how to be a gentleman. How to accept women as equals, and never as inferior.”

Balqees’s definition of success differs drastically from that of the average pop star; it’s one where grades, scores and numbers don’t matter; moulded by the supportive advice that her fellow-musician father gave her when she started her career. “My dad always wanted my feet to stay on the ground. He always wanted me to be humble in front of this vast range of vocals that I have,” she notes. Now, as a parent, she’s passing on that wisdom to her son, adamant in stressing that character matters more than being first. “I want him to be that smart kid whose mother strove to enlarge his worldview and ways of thinking to be less judgmental,” she tells Bazaar Arabia; tap the link in bio to read more.

يختلف تعريف نجاح بلقيس اختلافًا جذريًا عن تعريف النجاح لدى نجوم البوب. ففي مسيرتها لا تهم الدرجات والنتائج والأرقام؛ بل هي مسيرة تشكلت عبر النصيحة الداعمة التي قدمها لها والدها الخبير الموسيقي، الفنان أحمد فتحي عندما بدأت حياتها المهنية.
