The climbing history of the Shark's Fin - the central summit of Meru Peak in India's Garhwal Himalaya - is a chronicle of failure. Before @コンラッド・アンカー @renan_ozturk and I arrived to try the Fin in 2008, at least 20 expeditions had already attempted it. Each team had underestimated Meru's spectacular difficulties: alpine climbing on the lower half, an overhanging big wall above it, and hard mixed climbing all the way to its 20,702-foot summit.
