More than 200 forest elephants can gather each day at Dzanga Bai, a huge clearing within the Congo Basin. It’s the perfect place for introductions. This baby was born deep in the forest and is one week old. Her mom is the only elephant she has ever seen or heard. These calls are so loud, she can feel the vibrations through her feet—but it’s just her grandma saying hello.
