Ive always been attracted and fascinated by the Japanese culture and wanted to see the more traditional side in contrast to stimulating Tokyo. When I found this Ryokan tucked in the Deer Forest, away from the main town of Nara , I immediately booked it. My first impressions was as if i had immersed myself in a studio Ghibli movie. it fell mysterious and magical and a bit intimidating at the same time . They got me right away at checkin, asking us to leave our shoes at reception and wear their house slipper before even asking for our booking details. They then made us take our slippers off in our room and to take it next level, gave us different ones just for the bathroom. As the family tyrant desperately trying to live in a no shoe home...
