For years, many of you have heard me talking about the importance of re-wearing fashion, especially in these moments where powerful statements set powerful precedents. Trends only become trends when we make them trendy, and I so love that the Oscars embraced that this year with their style guide by @redcarpetgreendress which I was SO grateful to be a part of. Thank you for including my little business @bayouwithlove on your list of sustainable recommendations for the #Oscars and asking me to be your host on this beautiful evening. I threw on mascara from a hospital room bathroom, changed out of my knits I’d been living in for a week into this gorgeous vintage @moniquelhuillier gown in the front seat of a car, and was eternally grateful for the 10 minutes I was able to spend there before returning back to the hospital where I was caretaking for a loved one. To both @iam_samata and @suzyamiscameron , your knowledge, passion and voice have done so much good in this space. Nights like this night mean so much to me and our community who have been waiting years for this moment where sustainability gets to shine in the way it deserves. There is a particular beauty in creative reinvention through the reuse of fashion. This has been a reoccurring theme in my life and work for the better part of the last decade and I am so grateful for RCGD for highlighting not just sustainability, but the hands of artists from cultures around the world that have incorporated that into there ways of living long before it became a fashion trend.
